The Campbell County Public Library has invited a representative from the Appomattox Court House National Park to each of its library branches to present a special event about games that children played during the Civil War era. These Civil War Game Nights will be held on the following dates:
- Tuesday, Feb. 21, 6 p.m., Patrick Henry Memorial Library, 204 Lynchburg Avenue, Brookneal
- Wednesday, Feb. 22, 6 p.m., Staunton River Memorial Library, 500 Washington Street, Altavista
- Tuesday, Feb. 28, 6 p.m., Rustburg Library, 684 Village Highway, Rustburg
- Tuesday, March 7, 6 p.m., Timbrook Library, 18891 Leesville Road, Lynchburg
All ages are welcome. It is a great experience for children and adults who may want to learn more about the Civil War, but don’t want to travel to Appomattox. Families can go beyond a listening lecture and experience hands-on learning that allows children to see and touch various items from the Civil War era.
The events are free and open to the public.
